We have finally made it to Burgos, it took us two days with one night spent in Belorado a small town where we got caught in a major downpour when were were out looking for food, we also ran into a relative of the super bad waiter that we got in Estella.
From Belorado we went to Actupra where they have discovered human skeletons that are 800,000 years old. After walking 30 KM from Belorado to Actupra all the albergues were full so we had to sleep in the cave where they found those old skeletons it a was bit cold but we felt were good :) na just kidding we had a hotel room and this time the bed was long enough so my feet were not sticking out.
Thoday we were supposed to walk about 20 KM from Actpura to Burgos and we had super pleasent weather mix of sun and cloud with a nice wind and great views. When we got close to burgos Anne decided to take the scenic route to town since the guide book said that that the official main route was throuh about 5 KM of industrial sprawl followed by residential areas. So we ended up walking aronud an airport where we saw smoke belching factories and ran into a grabage truck and a toxic chemicals truck that looked like it was polluting the local stream. Then we ran into highway construction and the scenic route did not look so scenic, eventually we found a park and were walknig along the river till we got to the historic center of Burgos. I had booked a nice 4 star hotel in the center of Burgos which is right on the camino Santiog just follow the arrows and you get there but since Anne wanted to take the not so scenic route there were no arrows so we had to waste 1 hour looking for the hotel!
Annes defense
First of all, we did not get run over by any trucks, they merely past by us. Second of all, neither one of us knows what the route through the suburbs would have been like, according to the guide book this scenic road was very strongly recommended. And some people get a little bit grumpy when they get tired.... Specifically if they 4 star hotel does not have a bath tub!
But now we both had a hot shower and are very happy we are in this very pretty town!

LOL...
ReplyDeleteHe he, I have one of those too. Except mine gets really grumpy when he hasn't eaten. If he's tired he just sleeps (anytime, anywhere).
ReplyDeleteNice STORY Adib! Thanks for the FACTS Anne :)
