Entering Galicia

So we did see the castle in Ponferrada, and it was very nice. Afterwrads we had lunch, and by the time we started walking again it was 1.30pm... It was another great day, after walking through some villages we got back out into nature. eWE arrived at Villafranca de Bierzo around 7.30pm, which was actually reaaly good. There is a hostel which is supposedly owned by quite a character person - we barfely got to see him. However, the refugio had lots of character, the washrooms not so much. (I think I prefer less character but decent washrooms...) But we found a restaurant around the corner with reaaaaaly nice food and we tried some white whine that is from the region of Bierzo. WE had walked for most of the day through whine fields, so we had to try. And it was great whine! If I would not have to carry everything in my backpack I would definately take a few bottles home!

Next morining we walked a bit in the village with was really pretty (even though I felt slightly hangover...). WE than decided to walk an alternative route to avoid walking along the road. The trail took us straight up 500m to the top of the mountain and than we just hiked along from top to top. After the initial sweat the views were superb and the walk very beautiful. Unfortunately we had to descent down all the way agian to meet up with the route. The became hotter and hotter, and we had to follow most of the time the road, which was lots of fun with over 30Degrees...
Anyways, at the end of the day there was a fianl ascent all the way up to 10mm again. We made it almost to the top and stopped in a little albergue hosted by a German lady. We had our usual pilgrims menu dinner and watched soccer (Manchester United against Barcelona)...
Next day we mastered the last bit of the mountain to O Cebreiro, avillage with srtong celtic roots. From here on the way went constantly up and down, temperature stayed constantly around 30 Degreee! Views and countryside a great to hike.
We than stopped in Triacastela, the heat was preventing us from doing any further work outs. Yesterday we finally managed to hike 42km - and luckily today all body parts are still functioning!
